Board of Education
Members are: President Maryellen
LaFronz, Vice-President Joan Szegda,
Nicole Gray,Alec Lim, Tom McDermott.
Doug Barrett, Board Secretary
Board
members serve three-year overlapping terms.
The Board
holds at least two meetings each month: 1. a work session meeting, and 2.
a public meeting. Each meeting has a different purpose and format. The
work session, the second Monday of the month, is dedicated time for the
Board members to engage in a dialogue on Board business. Board members
need an opportunity to discuss their agenda, exchange points of view and
consider the issues on which they will take action. In order to insure
sufficient time for these discussions, public comment is not taken during
the work session. However, the public is welcome to attend these meetings
and learn about the issues.
The public
meeting, the fourth Monday of each month, provides two opportunities for
public comment. At the start of the meeting, members of the community may
comment on issues that are on the agenda. In this way, Board members have
an opportunity to consider views of the public before they vote on agenda
items. Any member of the public, after being recognized by the Board
President and stating his/her name and address, may ask questions or
express a point of view. After matters on the agenda are voted upon and
other board business completed, new items may be brought to the public.
At times
and when circumstances warrant, additional Board discussions and/or
action, Special Public Meetings will be held. Announcements of Special
Meetings will be posted on school and municipal bulletin boards and sent
to The Record for publication.
We hope
this explanation will promote your participation.
